In 2020, Houston Furniture Bank worked with over 45 local nonprofits to provide essential furniture to 1,272 families, distributing 14,374 pieces of furniture. Included in this number were over 1,000 beds provided to children as a part of Houston Furniture Bank's "No Kids on the Floor" initiative, up from 662 in 2019. Houston Furniture Bank is the proud recipient of a Community Assistance Grant of $16,200 from the Junior League of Houston! The grant will go to support Houston Furniture Bank’s “No Kids on the Floor” initiative, which provides beds for children in need. Over 100 children will receive a new bed set thanks to this generous support! Houston Furniture Bank is celebrating the life of one of our greatest supporters. Jodie Hoffer passed away on Tuesday, December 8th, surrounded by his children at the age of 91. Hoffer was a devoted family man, a business titan, and a lifelong philanthropist. He was a pillar of the furniture industry in our city, using his considerable knowledge and connections to build a lasting legacy. The second-annual “No Kids on the Floor” Bedding Drive was a great success! Heartfelt thanks to everyone who participated! Individual Houstonians, furniture retailers, interior designers came together to help children in need during the holiday season. Altogether, new bedding for 400 children was donated! During December, many individuals and businesses purchased bedding online which arrived daily at Houston Furniture Bank! Others visited participating retailers and partners to drop off their donations of cozy bedding. This week, 50 Houston-area children received a special delivery of a new bed! For the second year in a row, Houston Furniture Bank and Spindletop Charities have come together to provide beds to kids around the holiday season as a part of Houston Furniture Bank’s “No Kids On The Floor” initiative, a program that provides new beds to kids, thanks to the financial support of the community.
