Breakfast for Beds! On May 12, 2021, from 8-9 AM, Houston Furniture Bank hosted “Breakfast for Beds,” a virtual fundraiser to benefit the “No Kids on the Floor” initiative! Guests were treated to a step-by-step tour of the Mattress Builders factory, where Houston Furniture Bank makes mattresses for children in need. The goal was to raise the funds for 300 beds for kids. Green Mountain Energy Sun Club has installed an 85-kilowatt rooftop solar system to cover 70% Houston Furniture Bank’s annual electricity needs, supporting the mission of Making Empty Houses Homes! The Green Mountain Energy Sun Club has provided over 10 million dollars in sustainability grants to nonprofit organizations since 2002. Apply here! In 2020, Houston Furniture Bank worked with over 45 local nonprofits to provide essential furniture to 1,272 families, distributing 14,374 pieces of furniture. Included in this number were over 1,000 beds provided to children as a part of Houston Furniture Bank's "No Kids on the Floor" initiative, up from 662 in 2019. Every day at Houston Furniture Bank, families arrive with their caseworker to select furniture for their homes. . We are able to provide them with essential furniture, thanks to your donations! Houston Furniture Bank is the proud recipient of a Community Assistance Grant of $16,200 from the Junior League of Houston! The grant will go to support Houston Furniture Bank’s “No Kids on the Floor” initiative, which provides beds for children in need. Houston Furniture Bank is celebrating the life of one of our greatest supporters. Jodie Hoffer passed away on Tuesday, December 8th, surrounded by his children at the age of 91. Hoffer was a devoted family man, a business titan, and a lifelong philanthropist. He was a pillar of the furniture industry in our city, using his considerable knowledge and connections to build a lasting legacy.
