While Houston Furniture Bank has suspended all volunteer activities on sight, there are many ways you can help your fellow Houstonians through volunteerism. Listed below are some ways you can get involved during the coronavirus outbreak, some of which can be done from home! Please keep in mind that if you have any symptoms, are 65 years old or older, have immunodeficiency or live with someone who does, you should stay home. The most important thing you can do during this time is to protect yourself and others by self-isolating.
Volunteer From Home #VirtualVolunteerism
Harbor Hospice
Needs volunteers to make companionship phone calls to residents at their nursing home:
“Many of our patients, whether in their personal homes or in nursing homes, are in need of companionship. Volunteers are needed to call and check in on elderly patients.
We like to reach out to let them know that we are here for them. It’s nice to have someone to talk to and to know that they are not alone. These calls can be made from the comfort of your own home!”
