Art Meets Impact: Star Furniture, IDS Houston and Local Artists Join Forces to Support The Furniture Bank

At The Furniture Bank, we believe that every family deserves a comfortable and dignified place to call home. That’s why we’re excited to share news of an incredible collaboration between Star Furniture, the Interior Design Society (IDS) Houston, and a diverse group of local artists, all coming together to support our mission of providing furniture to families in need.

A Creative Vision for a Cause

From May 19 through June 13, visitors to Star Furniture showrooms across Houston will discover something extraordinary: one of a kind furniture pieces transformed into stunning works of art. These artistic creations ranging from reimagined tables to sculptural sofas have been designed by talented local artists, including students from Kinder High School for the Performing and Visual Arts (HSPVA). The Interior Design Society of Houston has staged these pieces in beautifully curated vignettes, offering a gallery like experience within Star Furniture’s stores.

This initiative culminates in a special art auction on Thursday, June 19 at the Star Furniture Showroom & Design Center in Katy/W. Houston (16666 Barker Springs Rd.). The auction will raise vital funds for The Furniture Bank and our No Kids on the Floor program, which aims to ensure that no child in our community has to sleep on the floor.

Why This Matters

The need in Houston is urgent: over 300,000 children in our city go to bed without a bed of their own every night. Since our founding nearly 30 years ago, The Furniture Bank has provided essential furniture to over 30,000 families. Together with partners like Star Furniture, IDS Houston, and our generous supporters, we’re working to change lives, one piece of furniture at a time.
