It’s time to help make the holidays cozier for children in need. 2019 marked the first annual “No Kids on the Floor” Bedding Drive and this year, the drive is growing exponentially!
It goes without saying that 2020 has been a hard year for many, as we have faced the many challenges presented by the COVID-19 pandemic. It has also been a year marked by the generosity and resiliency of our community. Alongside our many partners, Houston Furniture Bank has continued to provide essential furniture to families in need.
The 2020 No Kids On The Floor Bedding Drive is an event befitting of a year with such great challenges. From five drop off locations in 2019, this year’s drive has grown to 33 locations! We could not be more excited about the level of community support for this year’s drive!
This year’s partners include Ashley Home Store, with 13 locations Mattresses for Less/ Landmark Furniture, with 11 locations, Laura U Design Collective, Elizabeth Cole Design, The Arrangement, James Craig Furnishings, American Society of Interior Designers Texas Gulf Coast, Stetzer Builders, and MM Lighting. These amazing partners have come together to invite Houston residents to donate new bedding materials to be donated to local children receiving a bed set or other furniture from Houston Furniture Bank this holiday season.
Last year, we teamed up with our friends in the interior design industry, led by our friends at Laura U Design Collective, to collect new bedding for children. Over 100 children benefitted from the generosity of our community. Around the holidays, our team had the immense pleasure of giving away new bedding to the children benefitting from the No Kids on the Floor Program. Kids who received a new bed from Houston Furniture Bank also got to take home new sheets, blankets, pillows and soft toys, thanks to the generosity of people like you!
Throughout the year, Houston Furniture Bank gives away beds to children in need, thanks to your donations. Houston Furniture Bank provides Furniture Assistance to families in need, focusing on the essential furniture that families need for their home life. An average of 70 children are receiving a bed every month. During the holiday season, the Bedding Drive means that kids receiving a bed are also getting the cozy bedding they need for a good night’s rest.

You can drop off your donation at any of the participating locations. Ashley Furniture is helping by providing bedding at cost that can be purchased at all participating locations. Houstonians are also encouraged to make a purchase online and send it directly to Houston Furniture Bank!

Children who sleep on the floor because they don’t have a bed to sleep on are unable to get a good night’s rest and this negatively impacts their day-to-day life, including their school readiness,” said Oli Mohammed, Executive Director at Houston Furniture Bank.“We are incredibly grateful to all our partners for their continued commitment to the families and individuals we serve. With their help and the support of our generous community, we will provide warm pillows, blankets, and more to children who need them right now!”
