Today’s Houston Furniture Bank (HFB) Board Spotlight features Board Member Miles Marks. From helping to commemorate the grand opening of the new HFB headquarters & its 25th anniversary, to volunteering to aid families affected by Hurricane Harvey, Miles has given generously of his time and support to help HFB in Making Empty Houses Homes.
Miles became involved with HFB two years ago through a friend – fellow HFB Vice Chairman Larry Cress. “I was impressed by the mission to provide beds to children who sleep on the floor,” said Miles. “In a city with the prosperity of Houston, it is unbelievable that thousands of children sleep on the floor at night. The needs are great and we can do so much better as a city to help our own.”
Miles and his wife Molly love the entertainment opportunities in Houston from the theater to the restaurant scene … as well as being Aggie sports fans. They have been married for 36 years and have two daughters and three grandchildren.
Miles is a Managing Director of Client Development and a Client Advisor at Avalon Advisors. In addition to HFB Board of Directors, he serves on the Ambassadors Council of the 12th Man Foundation at Texas A&M, the Texas A&M University System Chancellor’s Century Council as well as on the boards of directors of The AD Players.
He also is a supporter of Arbor School, Gospel Coalition, and Second Baptist Church. Following Hurricane Harvey, Miles spent approximately 40 hours over the next two weeks volunteering at HFB and his church, helping individuals and families affected by the hurricane. “Larry Cress and I also appeared on KPRC spreading our appeal to the community. Seeing the great need made me appreciate the work of this great organization,” said Miles.
Thank you, Miles, for all your support!
