Houston Furniture Bank’s Hurricane Harvey relief efforts were recently honored with a Humanitarian Award at the 29th Annual ARTS Awards. The ARTS Awards, presented each January during the Dallas Total Home & Gift Market, is the premier international awards program dedicated to home industry excellence and achievement.
In its 25th year of serving the needs of families and individuals in the greater Houston area, Houston Furniture Bank has worked diligently to provide aid to families affected by Hurricane Harvey. The organization provided furniture essentials to more than 2,400 families. And the assistance to affected families continues.
“Over the past twenty-five years, the Houston Furniture Bank has been a force of good for the entire region, helping more than 26,000 families,” said Cindy Morris, president and CEO of Dallas Market Center, in a news release announcing the award.
“Their programs helping children have been especially successful and have ensured that the youngest members of the community live and sleep in comfort. Following the devastation of the recent hurricane, the Houston Furniture Bank went above and beyond to serve up to 70 families a day in order to help rebuild homes in the Houston area. We congratulate their team, we recognize their importance to the community, and we honor the difference they make in the lives of families,” added Morris.
